Oelwein Man Buys Jones Hardware

Morris H. Jones of Lime Springs sold his hardware and implement business in Lime Springs to Thomas G. Mahan of Oelwein. The deal includes the two story building stock and fixtures plus a 220 acre farm near Payette as part payment. Mahan, with 25 years in Webster City Grundy Center and Gelwebn, plans to continue current lines and rearrange. The buyer has a wife and two children and plans to move once a residence is found. Mr. Jones retires after 31 years in Lime Springs. creditors are asked to settle accounts with him at his home.

Davises Celebrate Golden Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary

R W and Mary L Davis marked fifty years of marriage with a quiet celebration at their Lime Springs home on December 24. The couple wed in Kingston Wisconsin in 1890 and raised purebred Shorthorn cattle before moving to Lime Springs in 1912. They have one son Newton in Chicago and three grandchildren.

Rochester Couple Die in Christmas Day Crash

Mr and Mrs D W Welch of Rochester Minnesota aged 35 were fatally injured around 10 oclock Christmas morning in an auto collision about a mile north of the Chickasaw county line on highway 63 in Howard County Also injured and in critical condition were Mr and Mrs Norman Gager of New Hampton ages 36 and 25 taken to the New Hampton hospital Both couples were en route to visit relatives The Welches were bound for Shell Rock Iowa and the Gagers for Chester Town to visit Mrs Gagers parents The Gagers suffered skull and leg fractures The Welch car crossed the highway and struck the Gager car broadside, killing Mrs Welch instantly and Mr Welch later in hospital

Local girls and boys hoops close pre holiday schedule

The L A girls dropped a 15 to 35 game to Little Cedar on their home floor while the L A boys defeated Elma 38 to 15 after a comeback. Mr and Mrs Wes Wright and two children visited Marion, Indiana, to spend time with Wrights' parents.

Lars Johnson born October 20 1868 in Winneshelk county Iowa died December 19 1940 at age 72 after a lingering illness. He married Elisa Quail June 27 1893 at Washington Prairie Church near Decorah and had one son Kasper. Funeral December 22 at Lime Springs funeral home and Lincoln Lutheran with Rev. F Eide.

Local residents and relatives enjoyed Christmas visits across multiple towns. Mr and Mrs Gordon Williams returned from Rockford Indiana after Christmas with Mrs Williams family. Car and Truck Collision Near Davis Corners

Alvira C. Brandt of Waterloo escaped serious injury when her car crashed into a State Highway Commission truck on No. 83 near Primary No. 9. The impact wrecked her car and forced the fan into the radiator. Brandt suffered minor cuts and bruises before continuing to Minneapolis by train after leaving the scene at Cresco.
