Santa Claus to Visit Lime Springs Saturday

The Lime Springs Community Club hosts a Saturday arrival of Santa at 3:30 pm after the free Lime Theatre Movies. Santa will hand out treat sacks and listen to children's requests, with all area kids invited. Free Movies Friday and Saturday feature Roy Rogers in Yellow Rose of Texas and a Cartoon Carnival.

Funeral of Albert Nagle Held at Cherry Grove

Services for Albert J. Nagle 72 were held Saturday afternoon at the Cherry Grove A. B. Church with Rev. H. Rieke and Pastor M. P. Northern In charge. Burial was at Cherry Grove. He died December 14, 1955 at St Anthony hospital in Rock Island Illinois after a short illness. His home had been Mason City Iowa, until about a month ago when he moved to Rock Island to be with his son. His wife died in July 1941. Surviving are his son Albertus of Rock Island Illinois four grandchildren and a sister Mrs Charles Cook of Rochester Minnesota.

Mr and Mrs Raymond Rapp welcomed a baby girl born Monday at Cresco hospital weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces their third child. Mr and Mrs Howard Vogel of Waverly welcomed son John born Thursday December 15 at Waverly hospital. They also have daughter Becky Ann age two. Mr and Mrs Melvin Eiffier became parents of a son at their Lime Springs home on Monday evening December 26.

Pilot Seen Over Lime Springs In Jet Display

A jet plane with wing tip tanks performed over Lime Springs Tuesday morning. The display included graceful wing tip stands a barrel roll and speed runs. Though the pilot is unidentified many believe it was Lt. Peter Garrison of the National Guard.

The Cinemascope production The Robe will be shown at the Lime Theatre on Sunday and Monday December 25 and 26. A matinee is scheduled for 2 30 p m on Christmas Day.

Record Cold Continues With Deep Subzero Readings

A stretch of persistently cold weather grips Bemidji with Monday morning at 22 below, the coldest of the winter so far. Warm spells bring light snow, including two inches on Monday. Tuesday's 14 below eased to four below by Wednesday morning as residents endure ongoing subzero conditions.

Outdoor lighted displays draw interest this year with a Nativity scene by Mr. Taraldson and Dale Kruse near Brown Park featuring live sheep under spotlights. New Fillmore Co Courthouse Bond Vote Planned

Fillmore County Commissioners seek voter approval on January 31 1956 to issue 250000 in bonds for a new county courthouse to replace the 1864 building and expand facilities for records storage and county offices. They assert no tax increase is needed beyond the existing building fund levy and project costs will be covered by current funds and anticipated tax receipts. The plan estimates total cost near 430000 to 450000 with repayment over 12 years from the 2 mill building fund.
