Fertilizer Warehouses Rise Near Lime Springs Tracks

Farmers Coop and A K Feed & Grain Co plan bulk fertilizer warehouses beside the Milwaukee rail line in Lime Springs. Each plant houses five 100 ton bins plus space for 300 tons of bag fertilizer, with footings underway and readying for spring use. A K will add nitrogen storage tanks, while both projects require substantial grading to match track level. Municipal leaders noted improved purchasing, pricing, and spreading services for farmers.

Waukon High School Destroyed by Fire

A fire at Waukon Iowa destroyed the high school building about 30 am causing estimated losses between 700000 and 1000000 dollars. Cause undetermined. Neighbor woman alerted the fire department as a small explosion followed.
