Methodist Choir to Give Christmas Cantata Sunday

Lime Springs Methodist Church Adult Choir presents the Christmas Cantata Carols of Christmas on Sunday at 3 30 p m directed by Mrs Carl Cassidy with Ellen Jane Lorenz arranging. Streets Cleared of Snow After Heavy Thursday Storm

Snow totaling up to 22 inches covered Lime Springs streets during a steady Thursday storm. Henry Tank 4: Sons crew used a caterpillar tractor and two trucks to haul away more than 90 loads. Walter Tank, Dick Phillips drove, Lorenz Tank operated the scoop and loading. Two or three inches more fell Friday. Below zero temperatures followed Tuesday night.

Banner Year for County In Soil Building Practices

Howard County reports show farmers exceeded allocations for Soil Building Practices in 1950. More lime and fertilizer used, more tiling done, and progress in contouring and rejuvenating pastures. To qualify for payment, all practices must be finished by December 31, 1950, with evidence on file by January 10, 1951.

County officers led group instruction on dates and parliamentary procedure with helpers handling president and vice president sessions. more training covered reporters and historians. Local dignitaries and guests joined dinner that evening. Oneota Club Christmas Party Reported in Geneva Garrison Home

The Oneota Club met at Geneva Garrison’s home on Tuesday afternoon December 12 for its annual Christmas party. Seed Committee Raises Shelby Oats Limit for Growers

Howard County Seed Distribution Committee raised the Shelby oats application limit from 60 to 80 bushels per grower. The panel said county supply is sufficient for additional orders and urged growers to apply before January 1.

Conservation Commission Planting Material Offered Statewide

Planting material for wildlife and soil erosion control on farm land is being offered again from the State Forestry Nursery. Orders must be placed with the State Conservation Commission in Des Moines before March 15. Materials include soft and hard wood trees shrubs and conifers such as cedars and pines. Local extension offices can provide price lists and order forms.
