John Bessingpas Dies at 93 in Cherry Grove Community
Funeral services for John Albert Bessingpas, longtime Cherry Grove resident, were held at the Cherry Grove EUB Church with Rev. K M Nicholson Jr officiating. He was born Aug 7 1871 in the Netherlands, married Gertrude Cook in 1900, and left ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren among surviving relatives. Zachow Funeral Home of Lime Springs arranged.

The Lime Springs Herald will publish Babson’s Business and Financial Forecast for 1965 on December 31. Babson’s 1964 forecast showed an 88 percent accuracy over ten years, the best record for annual forecasts in U S Future Business. Messiah Dec 12 13 at Luther Field House draws 5000
Cresco youth Dennis Safranck 14 and Daniel Puffer 17 died or were injured after a car missed a turn and crashed in subzero weather. Dennis Linderbaum 15 was treated for chest and leg injuries. The Cresco car accident occurred near Kendallville around 12:30 am Saturday, with Linderbaum reaching a farm home by 3:15 am.

Tragic Gronwoldt Family Auto Crash Near New Hampton
Mr and Mrs Leonard Gronwoldt of Ionia were killed in a collision with a westbound truck west of New Hampton. Their two young sons Leon 3 and Lynsey 2 were injured, with Leon in critical condition at Allen Memorial Hospital. Surviving relatives include Mrs Gronwoldt’s family in Saratoga and Riceville. The driver of the truck from Des Moines escaped unharmed. The family had been in Cresco for a wedding.
