Semi truck wreck near Lime Springs blocks highway
A semitruck carrying sheet steel left the paving and overturned north of the Y near Lime Springs. Robert Barr of St Louis was pinned but freed by local farmer Paul Goodman. Barr escaped with minor injuries after gasoline drenched him. truck towed, load moved to another vehicle from Rochester.

Funeral for Mrs Wendell Vriete at Greenleafton Church
The funeral for Mrs Wendell Vriete, 39, of Cherry Grove, will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Greenleafton Reformed Church. The casket will be open from 12:09 PM to 2:00 PM. The obituary notes she died Tuesday afternoon.

Highest Award to 4 Cub Scouts
At the November 28 Pack Meeting held in the Legion Hall Cub Scout Pack No. 3 awarded four boys the highest Cub Scout honor: Allen DeWalle David Mason Fredrick Lundburg and Donald Eells. Other awards went to Merlin Macklenburg Wolf badge and gold arrow Harry Kitchen gold and silver arrow Jackie Jones denner stripe and Michael Munkel bobcat pin. The troop announced no December meeting due to holidays and included a reflective piece on the future impact of boys on society and leadership.

Funeral Rites Held Here for Bert Thomas Rural Carrier 38 Years
The funeral service for R. W. Bert Thomas 1884 1955 at Lime Springs Methodist Church honored his 38 years as rural carrier Route One. He was interred at Pleasant Hills Cemetery with Masonic rites. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, six grandchildren, and was active in the Welsh and Methodist communities. The obituary notes his early life in Greenbaugh Minnesota, service with the post office, and retirement on his 70th birthday. Relatives from several states attended. The card of thanks thanks friends for sympathy.
