Golden Wedding Couple Honored for 50th Anniversary

The Schoppers of Greenleafton were feted November 26 in a program with more than 300 relatives and friends. Mr Henry Schoppers, 81, and Mrs. Schoppers, 76, have lived in the Greenteafton community for fifty years and more. They have five living children, all present.

Margaret Lindsay to Marry Here on December 18

Miss Margaret Edythe Lindsay oldest daughter of Rev and Mrs Thomas B Lindsay of Lime Springs Iowa will wed Mr Harry Curran son of Mrs Bernice Curran of Blue Earth Minnesota on Sunday December 18 at 4 30 p m in Westminster Presbyterian Church Lime Springs. Father of the bride will perform the ceremony followed by a church basement reception for the bridal party and guests.

Free Merchandise Day Rules Announced in Lime Springs

Lime Springs business place began issuing tickets Saturday for Free Merchandise Day on December 24. Six baskets of merchandise will be awarded. The Lime Springs Community Club sponsors the event with rules: winners must be present, one prize per person, club members and families ineligible, but employees and families eligible.

Continue Improvements To Telephone Lines

A six man crew northwest of town has completed four miles of new pole line under Construction before freeze up. Burt Duncomb of Riceville and Pearce lead the crew with Lowell Jones and four others, bringing total new pole line to twenty miles. Anchors cross arms and insulators are in place, with new wire to be strung this winter. A carload of poles will arrive in Lime Springs in spring to replace the entire line for better phone service city and surrounding community.

Merritt Olsen Promoted to Transportation Superintendent

Merritt Olsen, previously a dispatcher, is promoted to Company Superintendent of Transportation at Southern Pacific Railroad. He and Mrs. Olsen will relocate from San Luis Obispo to San Mateo California following the promotion.

Leader Store Sold to Mr and Mrs Milt Graf

The Leader Store has new owners, Mr. and Mrs. Mitton Graf of Caledonia Minnesota. They took possession December 10 and will staff the shop with Esther Healy, aiming to become established quickly. Don H Bowers, former proprietor, ran the store for nearly a decade and plans are indefinite. Mrs Bowers teaches in Lime Springs schools.
