Lime Springs Christmas Turkey Draws Register This Saturday
The Lime Springs Commercial Club hosts the first of two PreChristmas Turkey Drawings this Saturday December 8 at 3 30 PM. Free registration at member businesses. Twelve frozen turkeys will be awarded. winners must be present within sixty seconds. New registration for the December 15 drawing. Also planned are free theatre movies on Dec 14 15 and Dec 21 22, Santa visits December 22, and volunteer ice rink preparations after December 27.

Matie Larson Pioneer Chester Resident Dies at 85
Funeral services for Matie Larson 85 pioneer Chester resident were held at Chester Methodist Church with Rev Merlin Ackerson in charge. Interment was at Chester Hill Cemetery. Larson born March 13 1877 near Chester Iowa died November 30 1962 in Memphis Tennessee after a stroke. Survived by son Robin Eugene Larson and wife Pat two granddaughters.

Newseely Arrival Reports Two New Babies in Iowa Towns
Mr and Mrs Connor Galvin of Waterloo welcomed a son named Michael Connor born December 2 at Allen Memorial Hospital. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Ray Galvin. Mr and Mrs Wayne Burnikel welcomed a son Alan Wayne born November 26 at St. Josephs Hospital Cresco weighing eight pounds one ounce. A daughter arrived December 4 to Mr and Mrs Jerry Brandau of Cresco hospital. The Brandau family of Lime Springs already has two boys.

Fish Retires After 36 Years of Rural Carrier Service
Charles F. Fish the Lime Springs Rural Carrier retires December 3rd after 35 years 9 months on Route 3. He began March 21 1927 and rode a Model T then a team, now travels 79 miles by car. His route expanded from 27 to 70 miles with 100 mail boxes and up to 200 patrons, though many empty farm houses remain. Bernard Roesler covers the route while a permanent successor is sought.
