Dr Abner Buresh spoke at the Forest City Farm Bureau gathering on surveillance of winter illnesses and infant mortality from whooping cough. Fred Latcham chaired the session as the group planned a Farm Bureau dance and heard readings while viewing mounted New Guinea butterfly specimens. Amer ican Lerion Post No. 545 awarded fifteen turkeys on Tuesday night November 26 with a grand prize a 10 pound dressed turkey donated by Ernest Tibball. Mrs. Edmund Hendrickson and other locals won prizes. A stag with bingo and refreshments followed the event. High school games at Elsa saw Lime Springs H.8. beat Elmo 33 16 while the girls lost 20 17 led by Lester Party 24 points and Norene McCaustland 7.

Rev Fred Wolff was summoned to St Louis due to his father’s death. The former Christian Science Church is being remodeled by owner Howard Lubbers into a two apartment building with own bath and furnace in each unit, ceilings to be lowered later for extra bedrooms.

A. C. Weinkaut named county treasurer by the board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of ALT Queel. He will start December 1 after resigning as deputy county auditor. Weinkaut is a World War I veteran who served 36 years, mostly overseas, and was discharged January 30, 1946, then returned to the judge's office. Herbert Chyle remains in the automobile department without a deputy treasurer appointed.
