Thanksgiving Services In Christian Science Churches

Thanksgiving services were held in Christian Science churches with Lesson Sermons on Thanksgiving read by First and Second Readers. Funeral Services for Mrs Buxton in Waterloo

Funeral services were held in Waterloo for Mrs William E Buxton 56 of Roberts Wis who died Wednesday Born Eva Hore son she spent most of her life in Black Hawk county before moving to a farm near Lime Springs and later to Hines Wimbontoneabren The Rebekah lodge of Waterloo led the service and she was a member of both the Waterloo lodge and Roberts unit Surviving are daughters Bernice and Lucille and son Charles with the family in Roberts.

Candidates Named for the Special Election

Lloyd B. Cunningham of Vernon Springs and Jos Bouska of Pretivin will contest for the office of representative in the general assembly. The special election in Howard county is set for Monday December 12. Democratic and Republican county committees nominated their choices after local meetings at the court house. Bouska won the Democratic first ballot 16 to 9 for Mead and 4 for Cray, a surprise to many as he has been active in church and community affairs and is pretivin mayor. Republican support favored Cunningham, with a unanimous committee vote and strong county canvass backing his prior campaign stance on limiting governmental expenses and tightening rates.

Osie Kerr Leads Undefeated Dallas Football Team

Osie Kerr, Dal as Iowa coach and teacher, led a football squad that went undefeated this season with no opponent crossing their 10 yard line. In his third year at Dallas, Kerr is a son of Henry and 3B Kerr, and a graduate of the local high school and Iowa State Teachers College. The Dallas team played nine games, maintaining a remarkable defensive record.
