Judy Lloyd Shines in Nebraska Open Softball Two-Hit Wins
Judy Lloyd of Lime Springs starred for the John F Kennedy College Patriotics, pitching two consecutive no hit wins at the Nebraska Open Softball Championship in Wahoo. She helped the Patriots reach the finals, earned All-State honors, and aided JFK to a 4 0 victory in the title game. The Patriotes will represent Nebraska in Midwest regional play in Topeka Kansas.

Heat Wave Hits Wednesday With 90s Temptures
A Wednesday heat wave pushed temperatures into the 90s making outdoor work uncomfortable. Despite a 25 inch rainfall on Monday, fields remained dry and more rain would help. The Friendly Cace Club met Monday night at Mrs. John Malland’s home with ten members and one guest.

Lifetime Protio Sacred Concert Set for August 25
Mr. Palmer Vandeland af Park Rapids Minnesota will present a sted concert and speak at Saetersdal and United Lutheran Churches on Sunday August 25. Saetersdal services at 800 am United at 930 am. Vandeland a Concordia College graduate and former concert choir member has toured the United States and Norway in 1965 and 1964. The public is invited to attend. Rev Elwood Sharpness is the pastor. In Protivin a couple observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary August 18 with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Holy Trinity Catholic church. Vietnam War Death Notices: Bergan Son Merlin Bergan
Merlin H. Bergan, Sgt 1st Class, died August 12, 1968 in Vietnam when a helicopter mission plane crashed. He served 20 years, re enlisted for two, and was previously wounded in Korea. Survived by wife Vi of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and parents Ben and Bern Bergan of Lime Springs, with siblings in Minnesota and Iowa. Burial expected at a military cemetery in Fort Smith.

A Sunday night Water Fol lies show at the Lime Springs Municipal Pool drew a good crowd despite cold and threat of rain. King Marc Stockman led a ceremonial march with a large court and a program announced by Lifeguard Bill Mertens assisted by Danny Miller. Notable numbers featured young swimmers and various groups, including multiple dance and diving acts, a watermelon fight, and a finale with the dunking of the King.
