Professor Hendrickson awarded Master of Arts degree

Abner Hendrickson Superintendent of Lime Springs schools was among 322 graduates at the University of Minnesota on Thursday July 25. Dr. Frank L. McVey delivered the address at Northrop Auditorium as President Guy Stanton Ford presented the certificates. Hendrickson earned the MA in Educational Administration.

Paul Snaffer Accepts Education Director Role at CC Camp

Paul Snaffer resigns from Lime Springs High School teaching post and takes the Education Director job at the C C Camp in Decorah. New Lime Springs hires for next year include Ruth Heckelson of Lake Mills for the fifth and sixth grades and John Pedrick of Pullfield as Mathematics instructor. Glen Moor Marries Newton Girl Sunday Afternoon

A Cedar Falls couple tied in marriage at the Newton club on Sunday afternoon as Dorothy Raymond of Newton became the bride of Glen Moor of Cedar Falls. The ceremony, before a fireplace setting, featured ornate floral arrangements and gowns in Victorian style. Afterward a reception was held, with gifts displayed in the west living room, and the couple planned a Florida honeymoon in December.

Federated Manager Buys Winter Stock in Twin Cities

Federated Store manager Bob Percival spent a week in the Twin Cities buying Christmas and winter merchandise at Butler Brothers. He met hosts Mr. and Mrs. FP W Kingsley and praised Market Week stock. He expects mixed displays to attract both old and new customers, emphasizing quality winter stock. Howard County’s Red Cross Drive Very Successful. The Cresco auction netted about $300 with cash contributions of $540 bringing total to $840 toward a $920 quota. Contributions continue as farmers donated produce and committees aided sale efforts. County reports marriage licenses issued in Cresco listing names and ages of couples from Minnesota and Iowa. Frequent rains delayed threshing but corn and pastures and soy beans were harvested. Barn Struck by Lightning Burns to Ground

John Mihm’s barn was struck by lightning Thursday evening between six and seven, burning it to the ground. Hay inside reportedly covered by insurance. Nearby misfortune noted as Mihm’s son recently suffered severe internal burns from a disinfectant. Clinton Thomas, son of Mr and Mrs W W Thomas, died Tuesday at Woodward hospital with funeral set for 2 p m Friday August 5 at Lime Springs Presbyterian Church.
