Mrs Clint Lewis Burial Saturday at Saetersdahl

Emma Louise Hovey Lewis born December 1897 in Forest Clay township married Clinton Lewis August 22 1916 in Wisconsin. She died August 1935 in Madison after illness leaving six children and five sisters and four brothers. Funeral was at Saetersdahl Lutheran Church with burial at Saetersdahl Cemetery.

Discussion classes again to be held in Lime Springs

The community announces open forum discussion meetings this fall and winter with a Sept. 9 kickoff featuring a Womanless Wedding. Sessions occur every two weeks on agriculture themes, with four parties and lunch provided by local businessmen. Extension Service speakers from Iowa State College are planned for several lectures, non political.

Barn Fire Destroys Nels Larsen Farm Barn

A severe thunderstorm and possible lightning struck the Nels Larsen farm southeast of Lime Springs three miles, burning the fine barn to the ground Monday morning. The hay mow held 56 loads. 200 bushels of buckwheat were destroyed along with grain equipment. Only a bull and calf were saved. nearby outbuildings were spared thanks to firemen and favorable east wind. Insurance covered the barn and contents. Card of thanks from Nels C. Larsen.

Rev Frithjof Eide Sets Out for European Tour

Reverend Frithjof Eide, pastor of the Soetersdal Bloomfield Ostrander churches, departs New York August 8 aboard the Majestic for a European tour. He sails to Southampton, visits London, then Newcastle to Bergen, tours Trondhjem to see three sisters and a brother after nine years, continues through Scandinavia, Germany, and France, returning aboard the Ferengaria mid September.

The Lime Springs Municipal Band presents a concert featuring Noel King Bond and other performers. Community residents are invited to enjoy a program of marching tunes and light classics.

Achievement Day set for 4-H girls in Howard County

On Friday August 16 1935 the 4-H Club girls of Howard County will hold an Achievement Day show. The event pits clubs in health and demonstration contests with top teams and health girls advancing to the State Fair in Des Moines August 26 30. Judge Miss Fannie Gannon will select the outstanding team and exhibits for state competition. Also updated are corn loan repayments under 1934 loans, with 15 689 farmers having repaid most debt by July 20.
