Rural Councillors Transact Business

The Big Arm No 251 municipal council met at the municipal hall in Stalwart on Saturday. Reeve Matt Hebron chaired with Councillors Smith Troseil and Robinson present. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A department letter announced seed grain supply arrangements for farmers under various holdings. Mortgage owners may seek municipal assistance via the Municipal Reach Grate Act. Unpatented Dominion lands will be resisted by the federal government. applications go to the secretary treasurer. Secretary authorized to pay debts to local school districts. accounts totaling $634.00 approved.

Liberty School Off Ag in After Influenza Outbreak

Liberty School remains closed through the holidays due to an influenza outbreak among villagers. Trustees ordered a speedy closure after new cases including Athol Young Luella Damier Mariel and Annie Kennedy Hil ton Allen and several others. The junior teacher Mise Thompson shows mixed symptoms with rumors of a severe cold. Other affected residents include Mrs Teascomler Mrs Heatherington and son Ray Mrs Willemate and baby daughter and Margery Coombes daughter of Mr and Mrs Coombes.

Motherwell Resigns from Cabinet in Surprise Move

Premier Martin shocked the chamber by announcing the resignation of Hos. W. R. Motherwell the minister of agriculture in the cabinet of 195. He read long correspondence between himself and Motherwell a move that surprised most legislators who had no inkling of the decision.

Resignation Roils Hernia City Health Office Amid Merits Debate

At the Hernia municipal meeting Dr B J Sebert tendered his resignation as health officer after a year under contract paying 8000 yearly. The council praised his epidemic service and offered a 11000 bonus plus 98 inducement to stay, plus a 4000 yearly raise and a Ford for spring. Road work to Arm tiv er bridge nears completion aiding travel to Oraik.

Force To Be Increased for Royal North West Mounted Police

The federal cabinet approved expanding the Royal North West Mounted Police to 2,500 active personnel with general police supervision across Canada from the Great Lakes to the Pacific and to the frozen north. Headquarters stay in Regina with new posts at Port Arthur Winnipeg Nelson Vancouver and other points. Recruitment begins immediately with former members excluded from re enlistment.

Sarnia Rural Elections Return With Reeve Victory

In the rural municipality of Sarnia on June 6, M. Mybra was elected reeve by 79 votes. In division 5, J. W. Trippe leads Herman Meisner by four votes. A protest is rumored to be filed in the latter race.
