The game between the business men's team and Liberty ended badly for the former as Liberty led by 11 runs. Harold Scott fractured the large bone in his left arm during the late third to seventh inning stretch.
The regular W C T U gathering at Miss Agnes Reid’s home drew good attendance with several visitors. Marie Deege led devotions and Annabel Scott discussed Americanization. Ada Frey Leona Heberlein and Frieda Frey read papers. Mildred Doole and Mrs Ed Hunsaker sang. Pearl Robinson gave a special reading. Nellie Foster to receive books donation thanks. Committees formed for play tasks including Tickets Dora Linnemeyer Advertising Annabel Scott Adam Frieda Hofmeister Kline Lottie Longlett Gertry Pond Pearl Robinson. Dainty refreshments served.
A committee of the Auxiliary of the American Legion headed by Marie Deege Leona Heberlein and Alice Clark has ordered and donated Reading Circle books for all township schools. Titles include Cheerie Series of Sunshine Books for first grade Aleck and His Friends Dearborn for second grade Little Peter's Task Shaun O Day of Ireland Behind The Great Smokies Whistle Punk Ben of Old Monhegan and O Day of Ireland for other grades.
In Harrisburg Illinois voters rejected the municipal electric plant plan by a two to one margin. The proposition authorized certificates of indebtedness totaling nearly 500000. Final tally was 1029 in favor and 1934 against. Harrisburg lies within the Central Illinois Public Service Company service area.

David Goertz died suddenly at the home of his nephew George Goertz while visiting. A coroner inquest found likely heart trouble as the cause. he was over 70. Survived by two daughters Mrs Cloyd McCrae and Mrs Cloyd Michel, and son Arthur, plus relatives. Funeral at the Lutheran church Wednesday at 2 o'clock with burial in Xander cemetery. Rev Kunkle officiating.
William Gieker a longtime Barry merchant and civic figure was found dead in his Miss Collie Lane apartment Monday morning. Death ruled due to acute indigestion after relatives discovered him and an 9 a.m. inquiry by Dr. Goodwin confirmed the cause. He was born December 12 1869 near Liberty and married Clara E. Gieker in 1892. He leaves two sons Joye Gieker and Raymond I Gieker and a daughter Alice Gieker with two brothers and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held October 11 at the First Christian church Barry with burial at Mound Prairie Beverly. The O F had grave services.
A large crowd attended the Cecil Witt sale on Saturday. Items sold well and organizers called the sale a success in every way.
