Liberty will host the Central Conference of the Illinois Synod at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday and Thursday. About forty clerical and lay delegates from twenty two towns and cities are expected, with speakers from Nachusa Children’s Home Mulberry Home for the Aged and Chicago. Notable attendees include Rev J A Leas and Dr L Franklin Gruber. Sessions begin 10 45 AM Wednesday with Holy Communion and continue with papers and discussions. A vesper service Wednesday evening features Rev Carl Empson. Final session is Thursday at 9 00 AM. All sessions are open to the public.

Lutheran League Conference Draws 170 At Beardstown
Twenty one from the parish traveled to Beardstown for a Luther League conference at First Lutheran Church with six towns represented. A Zion boys choir begins rehearsals Saturdays at 3 30 open to boys ages eight to thirteen or fourteen. Catechetical class starts Saturday at 2 30 and runs through fall and winter. Walnut altar cross donated by Mr and Mrs Charles Beringer was dedicated at Zion. St Peters Luther League meets Friday at 7 30 at Miss Helene Weisheit’s home. Services at St Peters Sunday 9 15 with Sunday School. Vespers at Zion Wednesday 7 30 with choir singing and Rev Carl Empson of Decatur preaching.

Auxiliary Meets At Mrs. Clark Home September Meeting
The September meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at Mrs. Alice Clark’s home on September 21. Led by Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Grace Hofmeister, the program focused on music. The annual election of officers occurred with Miss Leona Heberlein as President and a slate including Edith Anderson, Wilma Graff, Louise Riggins, Alice Clark, Lina Blentlinger, and Annabel Scott in various posts.

Liberty Business Men's Assn September Meeting Recap
The Liberty Business Men's Association met at the bank with large turnout. They discussed canceling the Fall Celebration this year and forming a night watchman committee. The Liberty ark enlargement saw no action. Merle Graff was named to organize a ball game between business men and the Liberty team. Principal Scott spoke on business school ties, with winter entertainments plans postponed to October.

Mrs Sophia Hoehne Dies After Fall in Adams County
Mrs Sophia Anne Hoehne life resident of Adams County died Tuesday at Blessing hospital at 3 50 after a month long hospital stay following a hip fracture from a fall. Born Sept 17 1851 in Melrose township she married John Philip Hoehne in Quincy in 1873. Widower since twelve years she lived with son Fred Hoehne in Quincy. Survived by two daughters Mrs Louise Stetler and Mrs Maude Sinclair of Chicago two sons Philip Hoehne and Fred Hoehne both of Chicago and Quincy a brother Jacob Schroeder Dyberty two half brothers John Manigold Liberty and Louis Manigold Quincy two sisters Mrs L J Lawrence Burnside Ill and Mrs Louise Zehender Quincy and three grandchildren Grace and Ralph Hoehne and Mrs Dolores Winter. She attended Luther Memorial church. Funeral services conducted by Rev I W Bingaman at Zehender funeral home Thursday at 3 30 with A O Howd singing aided by Mrs J Fred Mueller. Burial in Woodland cemetery.
