The Liberty High School junior class presents a three act comedy drama Head Strong Joan by Lillian Mortimer on Friday April 28 at 8 PM at the opera house. Admission is 15 and 25e with tickets on sale at Honeaker's Restaurant starting Wednesday.
The Liberty Business Men's Association will meet in the lower rooms of the bank building Thursday at 8 PM. All business or professional men of Liberty are members. The group hopes to spark ideas to improve the town and community and invites members to propose plans.
The Adams County high school declamatory contest Class B will be held Wednesday evening May 3 at the Liberty Opera House. Hear the best speakers from three years of county high schools. Admission 15 cents.
Regional manager R H McElveen says forms must be prepared by midnight April 29 and mailed by May 1. Applicants should apply now as funds take at least one week to reach them. Adams County Farm Bureau offers forms and assistance to complete papers.
The Community Club met at the opera house with about 20 attendees. C G Buttz L B Hessert and Wade Williams led a supper of chicken pie mashed potatoes pie and coffee. May 11 was chosen as Clean Up Day with Elmo Pond Loren Hessert and Walter Hofmeister as committee. Jesse E Kline W A Robinson and Charles Beringer named to nominate officers for next year.
The Adams County Taxpayers League attended the Quincy Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss disposal of sales tax funds. They plan to wait until the June meeting, hoping the Supreme Court will rule on the act’s constitutionality. The league represents about 2700 members and advocates good government at reduced cost.
Vera McRae Florence Longlett and Maxine Enlow of Quincy High School led a girls glee club that competed Saturday in the Mississippi Valley Contest at Ft. Madison Iowa.

Mrs Emma Kulisch died at her son Ernest’s home in Liberty at 5 20 Friday morning April 21 after two years of diabetes She was born in Berlin Germany on October 4 1869 and was 63 years 0 months 17 days old She married Hugo Kulisch September 12 1888 seven children were born with three died in infancy Surviving are Max Kenest Richard and Harry and a grandson Elmo Kulisch She was confirmed at St Andres Lutheran Church Berlin and was a member of Liberty Eastern Star Burial was at Greenmount Cemetery Quincy with Eastern Star Liberty Chapter in charge
Mrs. Katherine Welsh wife of John Welsh died at her Liberty home Sunday at 1 80 morning after long illness from high blood pressure and heart trouble. Born March 28 1861 in Liberty township she was 72. She married John Welsh April 12 1883 and leaves five sons James Camp Point John Adams Earl Jacksonville Lennie Quincy Elmer Liberty and three daughters Margaret Witherow Edina Agnes Stewart Quincy Rose Gramke Quincy. Also survives two brothers Thomas and Phillip Clark Edina and a sister Mrs Rosa McKenna Osis Colo. Funeral at St Brigid Tuesday 9 am with burial in the church cemetery officiated by Father E J Scanlan.
