Rev Xenophon Ryland Dies After Pneumonia at 78
Rev Xenophon Ryland Presbyterian preacher and prominent Mason dies at his Higsville home at 11 15 pm Friday after a ten day illness with pneumonia. Born June 1 1844 near Lexington he was Lafayette County probate judge and a noted figure in local circles. Survived by his first wife Carrie Fosfora seven children. remarried Effie Lee Mason January 22 1907. Funeral at Presbyterian church Tuesday at 2 20 pm conducted by Dr E C Gordon of St Louis. burial under Grand Lodge Masons.

Higginsville Missouri saw school district exhibitors win prizes at the Lafayette County Fair. Zel Hill School and Maple Glen School earned top awards for farm products canned goods and needlework with prizes of 75 fifty and 25 dollars awarded to teachers and students including Miss Ogda Megrew Miss Irene Oliver and teachers Elizabeth Gruber and Nancy Smith for their farm and craft displays.
