Reverend Bollman Praises Lexington Aid Work

Death of Peter Gill in city after long illness
Peter Gill aged 68 died Friday morning at his sister Mrs Patrick McDonald home. Born in County Mayo Ireland he came to the United States at eighteen and had lived fifty years here. He had been an invalid for months. Funeral Saturday at 9 at Osthbolic church with Rev Curry officiating. Burial in Catholic cemetery.

A Sedalia Saturday issue reports a new time card for the Missouri Pacific railroad jumt and notes the morning Lexington Branch train will leave Sedalia at 6 45 o clock. No effective date or further details are given and Agent Loomis has not received notice of any change.

Council Meeting Reviews Street Improvements and Pole Permits
The council met Thursday in adjourned session with all members present. The improvement committee reported on 17th Street and State Street noting macadam thickness from 6 to 84 inches and recommending not to accept the street until specifications are met. The Belt telephone company asked for permission to set poles to install toll stations at Wentworth Academy County Court House Nickell’s Home Western Coal and Mining office Lexington Plouring Mills Central Female College and Lexington College and J P Coen’s. A motion to refer the petition to the streets and alleys committee with instruction for a report next Monday night. Ordinances were passed to install sidewalks on 10th Street in front of Averilla Hackney TT Strameke Maury Bayard and heirs of S G Wentworth. On Ridgeway in front of RL Huffman and on Thirteenth Street in front of Jas RB Green. Connell adjourned to meet Monday night. Miss Olive Carter went to Higginsville Wednesday to visit relatives.

John Melerer aged 48 died after a four week illness at Elks hospital in Denver Colorado He was born in Lexington on June 13 1850 and formerly lived in the city His mother Mrs A Melerer and several sisters reside in Lexington Christina Altweln of St Joseph is a sister He moved to Denver at about 19 and worked in general merchandising The females were brought here for burial and the funeral was held Thursday at 10 am from the Catholic church Rev Curry officiating Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery.
