Proffit Bros Meat Market offers fresh and salted meats oysters and fish in season at 825 West Main Lexington Missouri. Butler Williamson proprietor advertises a complete line of hats caps shoes and clothing for men and boys and urges customers to see prices before buying.
Judge S N Wilson traveled to Kansas City Saturday on business. Miss Nellie McNamara also went there for a visit. Advertisements tout Sanol as a kidney and bladder remedy with 24 hour relief and a guaranteed promise, priced 5c and 1.00 per bottle. Miss Anna Bell Cross, teaching in Higginsville, spent the weekend with her parents.
Geo Wittenberg, merchant tailor and French dry cleaner, advertises a full line of Wollens on hand with dry cleaning and pressing. Goods called for and delivered. Now is the time to inspect foreign and domestic serges before ordering a spring suit.
Crenshaw and Young advertise Cook's Paints and gas service with Luther W Marshall contact at 1120 Franklin. A separate dealer in feed flour poultry coal and hides operates from 1220 Franklin St. The Edison at Westerman Barnett Drug Company presents Jean Sothern and Walter Miller in The Cloud at Grand Theatre on Friday June 29. Reverend I M Burton traveled to Waverly on Saturday for church business. The trip centers on church affairs and clerical duties in the local community.
Coal operators and miners in the central field failed to sign a full agreement on wage raises after a meeting in Washington. Unskilled labor would gain about 20 percent, with other increases around 13.5 to 20 cents per ton for pick and machine miners. A two year contract was sought by miners, but operators demand a 60 day postwar settlement. Prices and future suspensions tied to fuel administration decisions remain under discussion.
The Chattanooga Bar Association adopted resolutions condemning Senators La Follette Grenna Reed Hardwick Stone Virdaman and others for their stance toward the war and called for their expulsion from the Senate. The meeting was attended by nearly all lawyers in the city. The group also endorsed Colonel Roosevelt's war prosecution policy.
