Baptist Church Celebrates Eightieth Anniversary in Lexington
The Baptist church held eightieth anniversary services with full attendance across morning and evening worship. Rev W A Crouch, former pastor, delivered two sermons and special portraits of former pastors were presented. A review night, social, and receptions featured guests Dr Lansing Barrows and Rev B V Holton among others. the series concluded with an impressive sermon by Dr Burrows and a talk by Rev Bol ton. Notable attendees included Phillips, Berry, Ashcraft, Ferguson, and Barnett families.

Obituary: Josiah Mace of Wellington Dies at 77
Josiah Mace died at his home in Wellington on Friday night May 3 after a week long illness aged 77. Born August 10 1824 in Lincoln County Missouri he moved to this county in 1872 later farming then merchant and postmaster under the Cleveland administration. He married Elizabeth Moore December 9 1846. eight children were born, seven living including Mrs Thomas Mahan and others in Wellington Springfield Osceola Leadville and Osceola. His first wife died in 1899 and he remarried in 1901 to Elizabeth Elmore who survives. He was a Primitive Baptist and loved by all. Funeral services were by Rev Brown of Ray County and interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery Wellington.

Special Election Ordered for Bar Township June 3
The County Court met in adjourned session and on petition laid forth a special election in Bar township on June 3 to vote Pan B proportion to authorize bonds to pay the judgment against the township in favor of O B Wonderly per a compromise between the County Court and Wonderly's attorneys. The court named Chapel Bill-3 UH Dean BB as election judges.

U D C entertainment closes with lively Egyptian visit
The U. D. C. entertainment closed Sunday night May 5 with a great turnout for fun and pleasure. At 8 o clock the Etective of Egypt and wife Mr and mara J C McGrew Sr arrived greeted by Jefferson Guards and a band. The Khedive acted as a barker and chatted with visitors while the shows drew generous patronage and refreshments. Prices were low and the ladies cleared about $150 on the entertainment booth.

Heerle couple marks fiftieth wedding anniversary
Mr and Mrs Nick Heerle celebrated their fiftieth anniversary on a Saturday. They wed in Chicago on May 6 1855 and have lived in Lexington since 1850. Their three 8008 and their families attended, including Gustav and Rudolph Heerle of Lexington and William Haerle of Fargo ND. Mr Haerle is 74 and Mrs Haerle 76 and both enjoying fine health.

New Railroad Rates Set by Missouri Rail Commission
The Missouri railroad commission tabulated new freight rates set by the maximum rate bill to take effect June 17. Uniform rate for grain, lime, cement, lumber, and related items is 6 cents per hundred pounds for 25 miles with 12 cents more for each additional 25 miles. Agricultural implements and wagons carry T cents per 100 pounds for the first 25 miles plus 1 cent for each extra 25 miles. Livestock carloads cost scales from 6 dollars for 25 miles to 2 dollars for 0 miles and higher increments for longer distances, with 2 dollars added every 26 miles. Stone and brick rates are 40 cents per ton for 10 miles, 60 cents for 20 miles, plus 5 cents for each additional 10 miles.
