Lexington College Chapel hosts a student recital featuring diverse vocal and instrumental numbers by Misses Luck, Dickey, Willard, Lange, and other soloists, amid remarks on performance quality. A separate item reports Lexington Lodge initiation March 22 with fifteen candidates, followed by a banquet and speeches by W Wagner and J Chinn, signaling growth.
Wentworth 25 Stars 18 in a tightly contested Tuesday night game against Lexington’s Stars Athletic Club. Wentworth led early and held on as Hurley and Gordon fueled the cadets with scoring and defense. Officials called many fouls with six officiaries enforcing strict play. Campbell stood out for the Stars, while Hurley and Gordon paced Wentworth in a gritty, physical matchup.
Two suits filed Monday in Circuit Court by Lawrence Peak seek 850 000 from Godfrey Skull for slander and 344 07 from the Commercial Bank for deposit collection and protest. The slander claim alleges Skull accused Peak of forging his name on two notes. The other suit charges the bank refused payment on Peak's 404.07 check in July 1906. Cases to be set for the April term.
The Lexington High Sobol track team plans a basketball squad as thirteen boys report for practice. Players listed include Wels Becker Bates Boar Morris Wallace Tunktall Greene Mare Bush B Bosh Barreth Shouse. Practices occur thrice weekly at Campbell's skating rink before selecting five top players for the high school team.
State Grand Lecturer U EB 8 Mrs Genevieve Wyatt of St. Louis led a school of instruction for Lexington sod Odessa Chapters at Masonie Hall Tuesday evening. Odessa visitors included Mrs Neble Broughton Walter L Bales A L Maxwell Mr W Ashworth J W Lightner Miss Bertha Russell Miss May Goodwin and couples S T Crank Chris Wagner and G H Hereford.
The council met an adjourned session Tuesday with all members present. Several claims were allowed for services connected to recent smallpox cases. The fire chief was authorized to advertise for a fire warden. Council adjourned a meeting in regular session March 11.

About fifteen couples enjoyed the informal at the Elks Home Wednesday evening between nine and eleven. Smith's orchestra furnished the music. Higginville Advances Died at her home in this city Monday February 18 1907 Mrs Harriet A Anderson aged 84 years and 22 days. She had been in feeble health for several years. Funeral service were held at the residence Wednesday at 2 30 m conducted by Rev J H Coil. Interment was made in the Republics cemetery. Weoensed was born in Warren county Ky January 27 1883. She was united in marriage at the age of 17 years to Mrs D Anderson with whom ahe lived in loving companionship untal his death May 20th 1886. To them were born nine children seven of whom survive her. At the age of 16 years she united with the Christian church and lived a consistent Christianity. She was a woman of very strong character and ever ready to do good. She had many friends who deeply mourn her demise. Martin Phillips had business in Lexington Tuesday. T. C. Q Gorban is to Kansas City the week on business. Miss Curtin of Lexington is the guest of Miss Bess Donald this week. T. V. Webb spent last week in the country with relatives near Corder. Walter Beatty went to Kansas City Wednesday morning on business. Dr. T. Ryland of Lexington made a professorial visit here Tuesday. Miss Florence Bell Beatty of Central College visited with homefolks last week. Mrs. Walter Trent of Providence spent last week here with her father B. F. Stark. W. C. White sold his farm last week to Robert Darnell for 95,000. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Yakley entertained friends Monday night. Miss Willie Hodges spending this week in the country with her brother Irvin Hodges and wife. Mr. R. W. Ashworth went to Odessa Monday for a visit with her mother Mrs. R. W. Broughton. Miss May Harwood of Kansas City visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harwood, last Friday and Saturday. Mr. Pauling and family of near Lexington moved this week to the property owned by Miss Jennie Vaughn. Robert Polover and children of near Lexington passed through Friday to visit Mrs. Fred Bray near Waverly. Rev. Phillip Sterk of Harrisonville Mo. has been employed to preach at the Christian Church there. he will preach his first sermon on the first Sunday in April. Everyone is cordial.
