Robbery on Main Street and Myrick Injuries Shocking Deaths
Police report a Main Street robbery leaving two men injured and one dead after a break in at a residence. Jewelry valued at hundreds of dollars stolen. suspects fled but later a forged loot piece recovered. In a separate incident, two Missouri Pacific workers were struck by a switch engine near Myrick. one worker died, the other sustained severe injuries. Also noted: death of Smith Benedict in Rock Springs, Wyoming, former Lexington official. Burglaries and a shop break near Wittenberg's Taylor Shop disturbed Sheriff Talbott, who investigated. Early lead by Missouri’s Martin gave Wentworth a fast start, but Mexico's team closed the half with Wentworth ahead 28 to 7. Second half saw Mexico rally as Wentworth faded, final score reflecting a decisive Mexico win despite early Wentworth momentum.
