Graham and Hattie Waddell were wed Wednesday afternoon June 26 at the bride’s parents home in Mayview. The ceremony at 1 30 pm drew only relatives and intimate friends. They left at 4 pm for Lily, Colorado to start their life together. Gordon Graham, longtime Lexington figure, is praised for his business success and genial nature. The bride, daughter of Mya Will Waddell, hails from an old family of the area and is described as charming and fit to be a good partner. Friends extend best wishes for happiness.
Susan J Fackler widow of George Fackler died at a friend’s home in Buckner Missouri on Tuesday June 25. Born January 1 1839 in Nicholasville Kentucky she moved to Missouri with parents in youth and was sister to Mrs J M Withers of Mayview and late Samuel I Drysdele of Lexington. Married 1888. Funeral services conducted by Ve Mansfeld at nephew Samuel I Drys Gale’s home Thursday at 10:30 Morning. Interment Machpelah Cemetery.
Entertainment at Eden View church south of town Thursday evening impressed attendees with an excellent program. Liberty pictures offered free flicker free show on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Opera House. Several residents traveled to Kansas City and St. Joseph for visits while others returned home from Breckenridge and Boston. The Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Father Matthew plan a lawn medal on July 4 for church benefits on Highland Avenue.
A fierce overnight storm smashed trees and telegraph lines across Lexington area. A tree crushed the Hix home corner, wires down near Drysdale, and 400 feet of track between Myrick and Wellington halted Eastbound service. The Academy dam broke and a rock bridge between Lexington and Myrick washed away. Local Union No. 17 held an election with officers elected including President James C. Stapleton and Treasurer James M. Goodman.
The body of Miss Louise Brown who died in Kansas City was brought here Monday for burial. Adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Webster, she lived here until two years ago and spent four months at Womens and Childrens hospital. Nearby relatives and friends, including Mrs. W. Lynch of Chicago and the Gentry family of Sedana, attended the Gentry China wedding. Frank Stewart traveled to Columbia for business Thursday.
Henry Foote Perrin is appointed Professor and Assistant Exacter in Piano and Director of church music at Central College for Women. He studied in Germany with Max Schwarz and Xaver Scharwenka, receiving endorsements and certificates confirming his ability to teach piano at a high standard. The college aims to match Conservatory level instruction in its music program.
Robert Bush stays in Higginsville for a short visit while Ruth Young and Margaret Smith attend Summer School in Warrensburg. Zanna May Esther of Columbia arrives to attend the Gentry Chinn wedding. Various locals travel from Aiggin s ville, Versailles, Higginsville, and Kansas City for family visits, weddings, and relocations.
