Wentworth Commencement Highlights at Goose Pond Park
The sixth annual Wentworth commencement week featured a Senior play, a swimming meet, and a grand ball. E MacIntosh won swimming honors, Guy Burns claimed the medal, Judge Charles Mayer delivered the bacculaureate address, and Major W H MacKellar awarded medals as Col W M Hoge presented diplomas. The event culminated with the flag lowering as the 1915-16 session closed.

The 1915-16 Lexington Public Schools closed with a crowded commencement in the Christian church. Dean Walter Williams of the University of Missouri spoke, diplomas were handed by Superintendent B. M. Little and Principal A. W. Clemens, and the class sang America. Florentine Onsheras earned the honor graduate status with top scholarship offers. Roland Hall and James Gwinner followed in the ranking. Special scholarship mentions went to Margaret Heathman, Elizabeth Hammer, Thelma Kissel, and others across Central and Arnold schools.

Barn Struck by Lightning Burns Home and Outbuildings
Sunday night about 11:80 the barn of H. Keller at 2101 South Street was hit by lightning and burned with all contents including a five passenger automobile. A chicken house also burned. Loss is covered by insurance.

West waives preliminary in shooting case at McGrew’s camp
James West waived preliminary examination in Justice Wright's Court for the shooting of Hillman Rutherford two weeks earlier at McGrew's camp. West was bound over to the August Criminal Court term on $200 bond as Rutherford nears recovery.

Frank A. Hoefer will sell his Commercial Bank interest to directors and depart with his family in about a month for Santa Barbara California to continue banking. M Taubman resumes bank management as Hoefer exits after eight years of growth and leadership. Mrs James C Kelly of 1616 South Street Lexington died Friday at 2 PM aged 80.
