Lafayette county praised for timely tax payments as December collection totaled 254867.46 for the county and 25347.56 for the state. County Collector C L Wilson forwarded the county share to Treasurer Ike H Noyes, acknowledging the effort and smooth transfers.
B F Holman a well respected farmer living about three miles southeast of Lexington died Thursday night at 5 10 due to uremia. Born near Louisville Kentucky June 25 1870 he moved to Missouri four years ago settling in Lafayette county. He is survived by his widow six children Martha Beulah Frank Arthur Harvey and Kenneth Holman. Funeral was held at the home Sunday morning at 1130 conducted by Rev R N Gardner of Odessa.
Mrs Sarah Jane Thompson died Wednesday night at 9 45 at her home on South Ninth Street from paralysis. Born May 8 1838 in Lafayette county, she was 78. Survived by three daughters Belle Belt Nellie Kiefer Jennie Grindstaff and two sons Edward and Milton Thompson, all of Lexington.
Mrs. Sandford Selers Jr returned Tuesday evening from a short visit in Kansas City. H. C. Chiles spent Wednesday in Kansas City on legal business.
Miss May Wright aged 39 died Sunday night at 7 16 at her West Main Street home after five weeks of pneumonia. Born in Lafayette county she lived in Lexington since age four and was active in the Christian church since age eleven. She leaves three sisters Miss Belle Wright Mrs L E K Mark of Lexington and Mrs R C Maddux of Portland Oregon. The funeral was held Wednesday at 10 30 with Rev R W Wallace officiating.
Ira A. Day died Monday night at his son's home in Mt. Washington Missouri. He formerly lived in Lexington with his son and helped run the Fred A. Day Book and Music Store. Day had long service at Warrensburg's post office. A well liked man about seventy, he leaves two sons.
Mrs J P Hansam received a message Wednesday announcing the death of Miss Belle Tommerson at her St Louis home Tuesday evening. Formerly of Lexington she leaves a sister and two brothers. The body will be buried in Carrollton Missouri.
The Speas family expresses heartfelt thanks to those who supported them during illness and burial of their husband and father Mrs A J Speas and Family acknowledge help and care from friends and neighbors.
Mrs Reid Moreland, visiting her parents Mr and Mrs M C McFadin, returned Friday morning to her home in Kansas City.

Miss Vivian Cutler and William Connor Tunstall were married Wednesday evening January nineteenth at 8:30 at the Cutler home 3515 Euclid avenue. The Rev Calvin B Moody conducted the ceremony with sister Miss Yulah Cutler as bridesmaid and Mr William Stonestreet of St. Louis as best man. The couple reside at 400 Wabash avenue Kansas City.
Telegram received last night announces the death of Mrs Ed O'Brien at Jacksonville Mississippi. Former Higinsville resident age 48. Lived in Mississippi for eight years.
Mrs Elva Bailey widow of Tate Joseph Bailey died at her Washington Avenue home Wednesday at 10 30 am from a complication of diseases. Born near Greenton sixty nine years ago she spent most of her life in the county. She married Mr Bailey March 24 1863 and was a Presbyterian. Survived by sister Mrs Jennie Spaets of Excelsior Springs nephew Frank Maddox of Lexington and cousin Mrs W G Harwood of Dover. Funeral services conducted by Rev S O Hall were held yesterday at 10 30 am.
Mrs Rosie Hill died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her grandson John Hiddrocker in East Lexington. The death was due to old age and general debility. She was ninety five years old and was probably the oldest resident in Lexington.
Webb Graham pled guilty to stealing a pair of skates and received thirty days on the rock pile after being unemployed for weeks and selling the skates to H. Swarts. Albert Greer was fined $7.15 for drunkenness and found carrying a large knife, claiming it was for mine work. He also faced another fine of $6.70 for unclear reason in the fragment.
Leonard Vaughan did business in Lexington Tuesday and Ligon Vaughan was there Sunday. Mrs. Mattie Nichols of Fulton guests of her daughter Mrs. H F Redd. Little Alice Shelby from Lexington visits her aunt Mrs Fred Zeysing. The Holman family mourns Blewford Holman’s death and were called to Lexington Friday. Frank Zeysing of Kansas City visited Sunday. A neighborhood ice harvest continues as Mrs Charlie Chrisman of Mt Leonard visits her mother. The Dover moving picture show by Davis and Straight offers a prize night every Wednesday with coal, lamp, and rug won by local residents.
Edward Vernon Nash, M A graduate, was chosen Rhodes scholar after failing three earlier times. He passed the 1912 examinations to appear before the committee in St Louis last week and secured candidacy on his final eligible year. Nash, a 1914 MU Journalism graduate from Central College, will return to journalism after three years at Oxford.
Louis Egle aged sixty four, brother of August and Miss Amelia Egle, died Monday at 11:30 AM at his Winfield Kansas home. He leaves a wife two daughters and a son. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 PM at the Winfield residence.
The Lafay ette County Building and Loan Association stockholders meet on February 9 1916 at the association office between 8 a m and 4 p m to elect thirteen directors for the ensuing year. J W Sydnor secretary.
