Andrew B Foster died at his brother in law Charles Hill Kansas City Sunday after a stomach cancer diagnosis. Born August 4 1856 in Kentucky he moved to Odessa area as a child and later settled near the present county. Survived by widow and children Arthur Ola Esther Henry and Ruth. Funeral at 5 PM at the Christian Church with Rev Briney officiating, Machpelah cemetery interment.

Judge Rich and Steengrapher Roberts opened the Original Court on Monday night for February term. Walter Bradley's case was continued. An amended information in State v. A H Moody was filed. In State v J B Field for selling liquor without license, plea of guilty entered and a $40 fine plus costs assessed.
The Women’s Missionary Society of the Baptist church held an open meeting on Wednesday evening for the twenty sixth anniversary celebration. Papers were read and brief addresses given. Mrs G W Ayde traced the society’s origin and work, and Mrs Boyle read a memorial of deceased members.

A passenger train from Kansas City to Myrick collided with a freight train Friday morning near Joffdrada City. The accident at 1:20 o clock injured nine passengers, with engineer G. O. Prick suffering a broken leg.

Mr Wood Payne of near Mayview married Miss Lulu Bonkoski Tuesday February 12 at Haholle church parsonage with Geo B Curry officiating. The groom is a Mayview area farmer and respected citizen. the bride, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Valentine Bonkosh whose home lies between Lexington and Mayview. Attending were Anna Bonkoski and Wesley Payne. The Bonkosh family hosted guests for a visit with relatives that evening and will return to Mayview.
Willy L Crews of Wellington and Miss Mary clam of nearthy city were married at the bride’s home Tuesday evening, with Rev. Re Pi Maestieli officiating. The groom is a prosperous farmer of Wellington. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ham, formerly of Wellington, now near Leslieton.
The council met on Monday and approved minutes and reports. Changes to Third Street name to Highland Avenue were favorably acted upon. Matthew Cravens joined the fire department, with Brightwell and Cravens named paid fire wardens for the coming month. Mat Riley was made night watchman for one month. The meeting adjourned February 26.
The County Court ordered a record typewriter for the probate judge and reviewed railroad and telephone assessments, deciding not to make any recommendations to the State Board of Equalization. John H. W. Kietchley was hired to prune fruit trees on land northeast of town bought by the court for a county infirmary site.
A local committee in Higginsville plans to burn a church note after the closing price on a debt of fifteen thousand dollars. The panel expects to report progress next Sunday morning as every dollar is paid toward the obligation.
Rabbi Leon Harrison will deliver a lecture on Shylock at Murrell Hall on Tuesday February 19. Harrison is regarded as a foremost figure of the West and the public should not miss the opportunity to hear him.
Citizens will meet next Thursday night to review what has been done and what is proposed regarding the suburban addition and motoring enterprise. The meeting aims to inform the public and seek input on a matter of great importance to Lexington’s welfare.

Opto Norton improving and expected to be fine in a few days.
The Lafayette county fair dates are July 30, 31 and August 1 and 2. The circuit is composed of Higginsville, Marblehead, Centralia and Columbia meetings held in that order. The prizes and purses are uniform at all meetings with similar prizes.
Ed HJ formerly of the city now in Higginsville suffered a severe accident at Anutisville while attempting to board a freight train. His right arm was crushed and amputated after being brought to Wigginsville. A. H. Goliday, long time resident of the area, died suddenly from heart disease after working outdoors. He was 74, father of 18, and had lived in the locality for over thirty years.
