Death of Mrs Robert F Waddell
Mrs Emma Elizabeth Waddell died Wednesday at 3 00 AM at 1704 South Street after a months long illness. Born in Dover Tennessee November 28 1846 she married Robert F Waddell in St Joseph Massachusetts October 11 1865 and lived in Lexington since then. She is survived by two sons Will B and Clements K Waddell both of Lexington. Funeral at Baptist church yesterday at 2 30 PM conducted by Rev G Garland Riggan.

Death of a Child William Summers Jr 14 months
The 14 months old son of Mr and Mrs William Summers died at his grandmother Mrs R Hoefflicker's home in the Southside Addition on Sunday morning at 8 26. Cause of death was cholera infantum. Funeral held Monday at 2 pm. Burial was in Dover.

Wells Fargo Express office money vanished repeatedly until a marked coin was planted. Dusty Wilson, known as Dusty, was seen with extra cash and arrested after police found 2.75 dollars in doctored coin. He was handed to the criminal court for processing.

Nevada Mo August 19 1917 Captain Campbell reports week one at Camp Clark for Company A soldiers. After pitching tents they enjoyed boxes from Lexington ladies and a visit from Col Linxweiler. The men endured checks, vaccinations and typhoid shots, with some fainting spells known as Fadeaways. Formal muster into US service followed and drills continued despite supply delays and lack of a Ford truck. meals were good with extra fresh meat bread and ice.

Court stumbles in turkey theft trial and assault case
The Tuesday trial of Dan Coates and George Taylor charged with stealing turkeys ended in a hung jury for Coates and a $75 fine plus costs for Taylor. Jordan Sandford of Dover was found guilty of felonious assault and fined $100.00.

Washington L Gaither night foreman in the Graddy mine died Sunday morning at 2 30 from injuries after being trapped under falling rock. Born May 13 1884 in Brown Station Boone County Missouri he came to Lexington in 1907 with his parents and resided here. Survived by wife three brothers Charles William Robert of Lexington two sisters Mrs Edward Wilcox near Higginsville and Mrs Julia Calvert of Columbia. Funeral services conducted by Eld J W A Bailey Warrensburg at Edenview church Monday 10 am. Interment Machpelah.

Eleven Company A Men Rejected After Quarantine
Eleven men returned Friday night from Nevada after being rejected by examining physicians. Corporal Ernest Graham and privates Cecil Isles James R Jameson Gilbert Rider Ernest Coslet Frank B Wysong Louis E Mavel John P Anderson William Butler Ellea Wood and Jess Horn faced quarantine on the reserve due to smallpox in Company L of the 6th Missouri. The men cannot communicate with outsiders but may receive mail. They are recovering from smallpox and typhoid vaccination and are progressing well.
