Lafayette County Trust Company to Commence Operations
The Lafayette County Trust Company, successor to Morrison-Wentworth Bank, will begin operations Saturday August 17 at the old Morrison-Wentworth location. A new home at 1012 Main Street will be ready in October, with a paid capital of 75000 and surplus of 25000. The bank joins the Federal Reserve System and will offer executive, administrator, transfer, and custody services, issue bonds and securities, and handle domestic and foreign exchange and traveler’s checks. Ike H. Noyes serves as president with Sam T. Ellis as active vice president. Albert Gillen is second vice president. The directorate includes Worth Bates, John R. Dreyer, James Lyons, and others. Mrs Kriehn and relatives left for Wood, South Dakota for a visit with Frank Kriehn Jr.

Mrs. D C Morris received a telegram from the Adjutant General confirming that Lieut L J Morris infantry was severely wounded in action. The letter, dated in Washington D C, notes no further information as of July 30th provided by McCain Adj Gen. Also reported a garage break‑in at Fred Whitsett’s home with his Henry stolen, license 135241, reward offered of $100.

Katherine O Malley former Lexington resident dies in St Louis at 42 from stomach trouble. Born April 1 1876 she lived in St Louis 20 years leaving three sisters and two brothers Jas James O Malley in Lexington and John O Malley of St Louis. Funeral held in Lexington after body moved from South Street home. Mrs Edward Marcum Kansas City resident dies at 51, daughter of Mrs Pauline Casper. Survived by husband two brothers Thomas and James Casper and sister Anna Casper. Funeral in Kansas City then body brought to Lexington for burial.
