Word came Sunday of the sudden death of Father D M Costello in Warrensburg after a brief illness and hospital treatment in Kansas City. Born November 5 1860 in County Limerick Ireland he was ordained at 22 and served Lexington parish before his health failed. Funeral in Kansas City Cathedral Tuesday at 9 30 AM attended by Lexington trustees and church groups. The Tigers baseball game noted in an unrelated item referenced Wentworth schedule interest.

Mrs Bessie McDonald Sullivan died Sunday night at her Independence home from creeping paralysis after years as an invalid. Born 43 years ago in Chillicothe Missouri, she grew up on a Wellington area farm and studied at Central Female College. Survived by husband Samuel A Sullivan. no children. Funeral by Rev O M Kickman of the Southern Methodist church, interment Independence cemetery.

Death of Mrs Popejoy in Estill Heights
Mrs Stella Popejoy died Tuesday morning at home in Estill Heights from puerperal fever on the 21st birthday anniversary. She leaves two children ages 2 and 10 days. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Rev J W Howell at 1 pm from her father George Goins's house in East Lexington.

The Philo Mathean and Spartan literary societies held a masked ball at the Elks Home on Monday. The hall featured red and white academy colors, guests wore striking disguises, Miss Mary Henry and Major B A Alckoon led the grand march, with Mrs. Sellers, Mrs. Hoge, Mrs. Morris Johnson, and Mrs. H. Tigers overpower Wentworth Cadets 6–0 in Columbia game
The Tigers defeated Wentworth Cadets in a baseball showdown at Columbia Saturday by six runs to none. Hamilton pitched four superb innings for the Tigers while Taylor struck out the Varsity boys in the first three frames. A breezy man calling himself Kennedy, posing as a Missouri Pacific depot foreman, visited the town, chose a depot site, and announced a $16,000 depot to be built of Warrensburg stone and pressed brick with modern conveniences. He offered to start work Monday, rode with a conductor for a ride to Sedalia, but left town without paying his board bill. officials have no record of his identity.

Tragic suicide of Frank H. Kleinschmidt shocks Corder
Frank H. Kleinschmidt, 43, shot himself twice with a revolver at his home, dying from brain injury after despondence over paralysis. Housekeeper Aunna Bearish was present. The Lexington city council met in regular session with Mayor Wickler presiding. Minutes and officer reports were approved, the treasurer’s annual report ordered published, and a $202.47 bill to Lexington Gas and Electric Co. allowed. New and old council members were sworn in, sidewalk and street projects discussed, and ordinances introduced to regulate sidewalks and campus disturbances. The meeting adjourned with resolutions of goodwill to the incoming administration and bids planned for city improvements.

The Kansas City Times reports the death in Boston of Arthur T. Metcalf, a well known traveling man for the 88 White Dental Manufacturing Co. of Chicago. He had visited Lexington for twenty five to thirty years, fell ill in Kansas City last fall, spent months in a hospital, and died at his brother Rev Henry A Metcalf's home. Also advertised is Our New Minister at the New Grand opera house Saturday night, praised as a leading character drama and strong company for the return engagement.

Wentworth defeated William Jewell 11 to 1 on Thursday afternoon as Emory pitched superbly from the start with 16 strikeouts, while Burr allowed 13 hits. Bolinger led batting with four hits in four trips, Emory second with three. The win marks Wentworth’s fourth game this season with only one loss, aided by McAtee’s defensive errors. Town rectifies square work by moving hitchracks and inviting public use
