The Constitutional Convention approved the new constitution and a schedule for its operation. A committee was to engross the document by June 24, with a recess until then and a presidential attestation in the presence of the body. Delegates voted 10 to 0 with 66 present, and absentees’ votes were recorded. Contingency allows adjournment until January 1903, pending reconvening. General political commentary highlighted broad support among white Virginians and calls to elect new judges in July.
