Mrs. Webber identified Joe Higginbotham as her attacker in Roanoke after a dramatic scene in the jail. The event followed her journey from St Andrews to Roanoke with her husband Dr Lile and Sgt Seay to confront the accused. Higginbotham confessed as the weight of the accusation pressed him toward a doomed outcome.
