County Board Adjourns After Road Business At Fair

Nezperce County notes a week of road bills and highway actions at the county board session. Road openings, condemnations, and viewers named for district routes dominate the abstract. wheat and flax prices rise and a large Indian war dance closes the county fair. The fair ends with a brisk crowds and renewed efforts to wipe out indebtedness.

Interstate fair leaves strong favorable impression on Lewiston

The Interstate state fair’s closing notes a lingering good taste from the midway and exhibits. Settlers of diverse classes mingled politely as Judge J. H. Richards of Boise and A. B. Moss of Payette prepared to address Lewiston citizens at the courthouse about the campaign’s land issues. Richards once served as judge of Idaho’s third judicial district. Moss was the Republican candidate for governor two years ago.

By His Own Hand. Lewiston Carpenter Dies by Morphine

Frank L. Edmiston, a Lewiston carpenter and builder of three years, died Sunday morning from morphine taken by his own hand after a week of losses at the races. He told his wife and called his children before drinking poison. He left a wife and three children, was a member of the A O U W, and carried insurance. The funeral was at the Christian church at 2:30 this afternoon.

Preparing for Election in Nez Perce County

Auditor Stookey readies mailings for precincts next week. Nez Perce County plans 9600 ballots and over 600 anticipated votes. Seventeen new ballot boxes are ready for dispatch. Law requires two ballot boxes and two judge sets in precincts with over 100 ballots. fifteen such precincts exist plus two new precincts.

Lewiston Masons Seek Stock for New Temple and Opera House

The Lewiston masons plan a brick three story temple and lodge hall at Main and Ninth streets. A committee solicits stock subscriptions among Masonic members to fund the building, which may include a handsome opera house according to current plans.

Telephone Line Projected From Lewiston To Ballards Landing

A 45 mile telephone line is planned from Lewiston to Ballards Landing in the Imueke mining district. It aims to be in working order by December 1. J Merrill of Stisting, Iowa will inspect the route this week and prepare to begin.

Self and Others At Lewiston Fair Reflected In Local Notices

Charles Snyder of Juliaetta left home yesterday returning from the fair. The Snyder Hotel at Julietta has been sold and the family may move to Lewiston for their future home. Martin Wessels and wife left for their home near Cameron this morning. Mr Weasein has led the Kendrick exhibit at the fair and received many complimentary notices for the display. Edward Kettenbach, recently from Indianapolis, bought a lot in North Park Place yesterday from Helen Squier for $600. He will build a residence there soon. After the midway shows closed in Lewiston some attendees found a ten dollar bill in sawdust. A rush followed to stake claims and many campaign cards were exchanged. The festive office seeker displayed wealth as he toured the country explaining the tale.
