Marriage licenses were issued throughout the month, noting several couples from Clarkston, Farmington, Harrisburg, Lewiston, Nezperce, and Sprague, with a Moscow exam note and druggists carrying the Trid.

County Commissioners Meet In October Session

County commissioners will meet next Monday in their court house room for routine October session business and agenda items.

Assessment Rolls Open Monday In Nezperce County

County Auditor Lydon reports the Nezperce assessment rolls will be proved this week and opened Monday by Assessor Gifford for taxpayers to settle with the county. Books stay open 85 days until January 4 1904 with delinquent penalties of 10 percent plus 50 cents poll tax. Personal property taxes see aggressive collection. earlier delinquent balances total about 40800 since 1902. Delinquents before 1891 incur 12 percent annual penalty, those after 1891 18 percent. penalties apply to tax amounts, not interest.

City treasurer reports on hand 9453.33 and receipts 2692.55 with 6453.33 balance. Police notes show 32 dogs killed 40 arrests and fines 196. Profitable Farming in Genesee Country

Genesee County’s farmers report a wheat yield near 35 bushels per acre with some fields reaching 63. Corn as a summer fallow crop shows promise, with White Dent corn yielding about 30 bushels per acre in some Genesee fields. Hay crop returns are strong, baled tonnage at $16.25 to $20 plus per ton, and an 80 acre tract sold last season for 2750 produced 1850 in hay and grain this year.

Reception for church congregation by Reverend Guernsey

Reverend and Mrs. Guernsey hosted a Friday evening reception for the church congregation and invited guests. About fifty attended, with Mrs. C. L. Day singing two sacred pieces. A coffee service followed, and the highlight was the gifting of a coffee set to E. Coldren, the church organist, as appreciation for her service. The crowd enjoyed the event and plans were made to repeat such gatherings at least every two months.
