Republicans Enthusiastic Rally and New River Steamboat Venture

Lewiston Republicans opened with a rousing meeting at the Grostein Opera House for governor candidate Jno T Morrison with a large crowd and strong endorsements. A new Lewiston Southern Navigation Company with $100000 capital forms to run a steamboat line between Lewiston Imnaha district and Pittsburg Landing, led by D W Bailey and other investors. The party presents a united front and names a full county ticket while stressing tax contrasts with Democrats and urging registration before election day.

Hold up in Lewiston leads to arrests over Brace claim

In Lewiston on Saturday night Dade Reynolds and Joe Mackay were robbed of cash, Reynolds losing 13 dollars and Mackay 151 dollars. Makay later had Reynolds arrested for steering him into the hold up, claiming they visited campers near the fluke by Clearwater ferry where none were found. The assailant forced both to surrender funds. Mackay then accused Reynolds of collusion, but Reynolds was acquitted due to lack of direct evidence.

Raid by U S Marshal Shatters Orofino Tour

Captain Schattner led a U S Marshal raid on Orofino Monday night with search warrants. Five establishments were searched and three arrests were made for introducing liquor on the reservation. Arrested were Dr J S Beck L Stannus and Mace Narrell. Depositions filed by George Lorand. At Stannus store three beers found at Beck drug store a whiskey flask and at Norrell a whiskey flask. Stannus and Beck deny violations for private use. Van Hasbrouck of the fair association traveled to Spokane to arrange with auto race entrants.

Teller to Go Semiweekly Printing on Tuesdays and Fridays

The TELLER will shift from weekly to semiweekly publication starting with the next issue. This move, long contemplated, aims to eventually establish an afternoon daily presence in Lewiston. From now on, THE TELLER will be printed on Tuesdays and Fridays until further notice.

Nezperce Merchant to Move Home After City Visit

Clark Harding of Nezperce, who with his family has been visiting in the city since the republican convention, left yesterday for Nezperce to settle business interests then will move to Lewiston to make a permanent home. He has sold his interests to Mr. Carter and will likely engage in business here.

Lime Industry Emerges in Clearwater Country

A new lime manufacturing venture at Orofino promises growth for Clearwater. Lewiston builders using the product since month's start report high quality. Quarries owner T. J. Taylor states quarries are opened, demand growing, and three kilns in operation with expansion planned.

Both parties have opened local headquarters Adams building for Republicans and Thiessen building for Democrats. County candidates wear anxious smiles as campaigning intensifies.
