Lewiston voters will ratify a city council purchase of the Lewiston Water Company plant and Vollmer Kettenbech system for 70000 cash. The agreement dismisses suits and abeyances pending signing, with future improvement funds debated, including whether to seek additional bond issues.
City council and water utility reach a settlement setting price at 70000 dollars. All pending suits to be dismissed as part of the agreement. The matter concludes with terms outlined for payment and closure.
Fred Josephson chief master at arms of the United States Navy visited the city to arrange a recruiting station. A March 5 meeting at city hall will examine recruits for apprentices aged 15 to 17 with four year terms and staged promotions up to sea service. Non-commissioned officers can join as master at arms and shipwrights with monthly pay from 25 to 30 dollars. Also reported are a district court case involving Jno N King and A W Kreutinger, and a court jury selection and testimony details.
Court news notes a King damage case proceeding today after a jury secured last night. A new criminal case begins with witness testimony in the Caldwell case as discussions of a tramway project outline costs and stock holdings.
