Arrested on Reservation for Beat-Legging Near Lapwai
Ira Frazer and John Appletree were arrested near the Lapwai reservation by Indian Agent Stranahan and colleagues after leaving Lewiston in a buggy with a borrowed pistol. Fifteen bottles of whiskey were found in the buggy. Prison reports note June admissions and discharges at the penitentiary, with several multi year sentences for burglary and grand larceny. A Lapwai council discussed Nez Perce tramway rights, and Spalding merchant stock changes include Alice Goldsmith appointed postmistress.

Poles set two miles east of the city mark progress on the reservation telephone line extending toward Lewiston. Quarters secured with Western Union in Bunnell. The line will connect with major towns on the reservation and may spur a Greer to Pierce link.

Lewiston Post Office to Move into Scully Block Quarters
Postmaster Jno L Chapman reports the assistant postmaster general accepted Mathew Scully’s offer to lease the lower story of the Scully block for Lewiston’s post office. The five year lease at 1200 dollars yearly includes team beat and electric lighting and aims to establish free mail delivery by October. Engineers report survey work for a bridge across the Clearwater river with a proposed site near the mouth and the old O R N survey base.

Accident leaves Mrs Irine injured near West Falls Oregon
Friends of F. B. Prine report a buggy accident when frightened horses bolted. Mrs Irine was hurled onto rocks, breaking her cheek bone and bruising her head and hand. The Prine party had traveled from eastern Oregon and are based near West Falls.

Yesterday at 2 pm Albert Kester led Lewiston against Moscow in a 19 to 16 win. The game featured hard plays, sharp catching, and no injuries. High Water Forces Logging Drive Loss Then Recovery
A severe flood washed a wood drive into the Clearwater and Snake rivers, risking the loss of thousands of logs. City logs were counted throughout Sunday, with 200000 logs deemed completely lost.
