District Court Sustained in Rooke and Lancaster Cases
Grangeville December 24 The Rooke and Lancaster cases pending in the supreme court were decided last Saturday and the district court verdicts will stand. W S Rooke was convicted of horse stealing and sentenced to ten years after escape en route from Mt Idaho. Lancaster was found guilty of statutory rape and sentenced to six years. Remittitur received. warden notified to return prisoners. Six convictions this year mark a record in the county.

Wanzer currently heads the right of way department for the Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co, brings thirty years of engineering experience and was chosen without a formal application.
