Harvest Nears Finish in Pincher Creek Area

Harvest in Pincher Creek area winds up within a week as heavy fields stand. crops exceeded expectations despite hail and frost. Wheat yields range 25 to 50 bushels per acre with some above 50. Hay fair to good, stock feed ample for winter. farmers finish fall tasks and seek rains after harvest.

Funeral services for Bert Ross a well known Maycroft oldtimer were held at Pincher Creek United Church. Rev A J D Multon conducted the service with interment in Fairview cemetery. Pallbearers were A J Price J Heaton H Nelson R Nelson Dick Williams and C Pharis, all Lundbreck district residents.

Cranbrook Liberal Associa tion Holds Spirited Meeting Without Motion

In Cranbrook Kimberley the Cranbrook Kimberley Liberal Association held its annual meeting with lively debate on coalition and highway issues. No motion passed but plans to expand road programs north of Kimberley and west of Cranbrook were urged. The East Kootenay Liberal meeting will be in Cranbrook at the Canadian Legion hall Tuesday with local associations represented. Officers include J H Cameron president and Ross Pacazzo treasurer. Beet Worker Accidentally Shot in Beet Field Accident

Stirling, HNS Johnny Lamisko was shot in the leg while testing a shotgun with Larry Nelson in a beet field. Johnny tossed a beet skyward, Larry fired, and the gun misfired again as Johnny approached. He was taken to St Michael's Hospital for treatment with no broken bones.

Moyie Resident Fanny Willicome Dies At 84 in Cranbrook

Mrs Fanny Willicome 84 died in hospital after a fall in Moyie last week and arm fracture. Born in Barnstable England she moved with husband Lewis to Fort Steele then Moyie. Survived by daughter Mrs E 8S Baker son Lewis Sidney seven grandchildren two great grandchildren. Funeral services held Saturday at McPherson Funeral Home.
