Lemmon School Board plans new temporary school building
Lemmon South Dakota September 7 1908 the school board discussed securing temporary quarters and voted to construct a 24 by 40 foot two room building on the northeast corner of court house block. They approved furniture purchases from the American Seating Company and elected teachers including Miss Jewel Cutler Miss Pearl Marvin and Miss Verna Ione Jewel later replaced by Miss Anna Bowlus. The board also addressed water supply for fire protection and considered issuing warrants to raise 8000 for a new water system. A Fire Department was organized with Wm Nesbit as chief and a fundraising drive yielding about 800 in donations.

The month of August proved hot with a 104 degree high on the first and a peak 94 on the 10th. Frost touched parts on the 19th and 22nd dipping to 30 in exposed spots, slight garden damage in low areas. rainfall totaled 2.27 inches at Goforth led by .75 inch on the 24th. 21 clear days, 6 partly cloudy, 4 cloudy.
