A major storm pounded the area Tuesday night and continued through Wednesday. Fierce winds damaged buildings and roofs while lightning struck the F F Williams building. Flooding filled excavations and the Grand River rose, with livestock scattered and fields largely intact.
The community celebrates a Kimball organ delivery by the Christian Endeavor Society. A Basket Social in the schoolhouse on May 23 raises funds to cover remaining organ expenses while weather and mail updates affect local life.
The Adams and Bowman Counties institute, first in the new counties, runs June 1 to 5 in Hettinger. Leroy F. Jackson of Larimore and Prof. P. S. Berg of Dickinson will lead sessions including a Director and Teacher’s Day on June 5. Stockwell supports the event. attendance affects teaching certificates and pay.
Mr and Mrs Wer Vanderly drove to Lemmon last Friday. Dorma completed a house on his claim last week. Potter works on a barn and well with A Hann Hanson aiding. Mr and Mrs Joe Bauman visited Wapeton ND last Thursday after a trip with A Clark Elling Dickinson and W Leff.
The May apportionment for the state shows 4 40 per person for school children. Adams county will receive 916 36 for its school age children and Bowman county 35 24 for 214 pupils. Life children and a 33 47 12 amount appear. the Common Business Club plans a July 3 and 4 celebration with appointed directors to form full committees.
