Isolated Tract Sales Show Rising Prices at Land Office

This week isolated tracts drew strong demand with many selling at $8 to $9 and one lot at $13.50. Harry Hartzell and Jacob Uhler were notable buyers in close competitive skirmishes near farm quarters and Reeder. The office plans daily sales from Sept 1 and urges watching legal ads for dates and notices of contest and commutation protests amid coal land dealings and title safeguards.

Mcintosh Wins the County Seat

Corson County voters chose McIntosh as county seat by a large margin amid a quiet first election on the reservation. The contest included cross county pressure and Indian voting rights challenges at Bullhead. McIntosh supporters claim a two to one edge, while Morristown and McLaughlin backed plans for future county division. Carson County spans 85 miles west to east and 40 miles wide, with about 90 townships awaiting settlement as open lands attract new arrivals.
