Fire devastated Chipman’s Flowr Mill last night with only brick walls left. Origin of the blaze unknown after the miller opened a switch cutting lights. Estimated value 70,000 with 8,000 insured. farmers’ wheat stock and mill loss could reach 12,000.
The Experimental Station exhibit draws crowds with grains melons and tomatoes. Ola Larson traveled to Salt Lake Tuesday to oversee the site as the fair credits the display for its creditable showing.
This morning Mr. Taylor was taken to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He has been suffering for some time, and doctors plan a thorough examination with X rays. Dr. Holbrook and hospital physicians will perform the examination tomorrow and a possible operation may follow.
The sugar factory system reports steady work with beet deliveries from farmers and a good average crop. Springville and Spanish Fork plants push quotas while Provo alternates with Springville sending beet juice to Lehi for refining. Some farmers have finished harvesting while others still dig as weather holds.
In a county school election at the high school, Kael Hopkins was chosen as president of the High School Section for the sesenbeyend. The Athletic Committee of high school principals from Limwe districts was also formed and will meet on Saturday, Oct. 12 to organize a basketball league for the silver loving cup from last year. A third year class officer slate was elected with Terry as president, Flossie Dorton vice president, Vernon Anderson secretary treasurer, May Jackson and Warren Schow as officers, and George Solinstead on the executive committee. Dy Hasler gave a bacteriology lecture Tuesday using a microscope and disease germs. students asked many questions. Due to weather and a missing Central heater, there was no school in that building on Wednesday.
Lehi Mercantile Co passes stock to the Utah Association of Credit Men for the next ten days. The body will sell discounted merchandise with bargains highlighted in the Beery Department. Early visitors can inspect and secure the best reductions.
