Lehi mine ore bodies show high iron content and rising value
Mine Superintendent George Nicholes of North svitic reported in Salt Lake that the upper tunnel exposes a vast body of low grade ore with 40 to 50 percent iron and some lead. The ore shoot lies 316 to 400 feet vertically from the surface, followed by a 460 foot incline. The Empire drift faces 405 feet below ground, while ore assays range from $30 to over $100 per ton for Empire ore and $4 to 15 dollars for Gold Blossom ore. Shipments have begun and Nicholes remains hopeful the Lehi mine will prove profitable as depth increases.
