Merchants Half Holiday At Becks Saratoga Springs
Last Friday merchants observed a half holiday closing at 2 p m and many joined families at Beck's Saratoga Springs. A large crowd gathered by 4 p m with hot weather limiting football, crowds enjoyed the bathing pool and shade, ice cream was provided during lunch, an orchestra performed for dancing, and merchants from American Folk did not attend.

Last winter coyotes descended from the hills and moved toward the slaughter pens southeast of town. They killed several sheep at the factory feeding corrals and now raid poultry farms. Residents call for action to kill or drive them back to the hills.

Factory Notes on New Beet Shed and Improvements
A new beet shed rises taller than old structures with a sloping floor and side unloading doors. The roof uses patent composition and the floor area will hold about a third more beets. Harvest to Commence for Sugar Beet Campaign
The China Cal Champion reports orders issued for harvest to begin next Monday at the sugar factory in Orange County and parts of Ventura County. About 7000 tons of beets expected from Orange County with a daily delivery target of 700 tons, a three month campaign anticipated.
