Elizabeth S. Kersey, widow of Thomas Kersey, celebrated her 75th birthday yesterday with a gathering of over a hundred relatives and neighbors at her home three miles northwest of Lebanon. An Opera House audience packed Monday night for Hi Henrys Minstrels. The company appears weak overall and relies too much on past reputation, offering little beyond the average minstrel show.
Miss Mary Howard recovered damages of 4000 from the railroad company after being run over by a C L St L C train near Augusta last winter. Her father Dr Anson Howard was killed in the same incident and her injuries left her unable to attend the trial.
A Thorntown veterinary surgeon Wesley C Holden was found guilty of raping an eleven year old girl Carrie Drisner from Cincinnati Home and placed with T C McCoy The verdict sentenced him to sixteen years penal servitude in the state penitentiary Police notified citizens with the courthouse bell around 10 PM Saturday night and Holden faces a severe penalty in this grisly case.
Church Notes cover sermons at Methodist and Presbyterian congregations with Rev. A Lewis and G Hetchinga. Mite society meetings at Kern and Brown homes. Public notices include tax deeds, land transfers, and local appointments.
