Bandits Take Syrup in Place of Whiskey Heist
In Pittsburgh early today six masked bandits overpowered a watchman at Allies Garage and drove off a truck carrying 27 barrels of syrup mistaken for whiskey. James H. Jones bound and gagged watched the looting, the syrup en route to Tube City Bottling Works in Mocheport, Pa. Estimated value around 1500 dollars. Prohibition agents investigated the unusual cargo mixup as the truck passed through the city yesterday.
