Police seize still on land of day advocate
State and county police raided a 75 gallon still on a 300 acre Lancaster county farm owned by John A. McSparran, secretary of agriculture and prohibition law advocate. Two men fled as officers fired in the air. McSparran’s son Charles accompanied police and residents complained of waste from the still entering a fishing stream. Authorities confiscated the still, destroyed gallons of liquor, and seized 250 pounds of sugar along with corn and rye mash.
