Puritan Quick Lunch at Spring and Brighth streets reported a theft of receipts between 4 and 6 am. The rear door was forced open and only cash under the counter was taken. Andrew Wiatts discovered the loss at 6 am after William Miatlis closed at 4 am. Police notified. amount stolen not disclosed.
Forty four convicts seized three guards at the Clements state prison farm near Brazoria Texas and escaped. Three were recaptured, two after being shot by a nearby cattleman. Most fugitives fled into the dense Brazos river bottoms while 150 nonparticipating inmates urged to join the breakout.
A likely intoxicated driver veered east on Chestnut street Saturday at 11:45 PM, smashing through the sidewalk and tearing up a boxwood at Attorney Warren G. Light 430 Chestnut. The car, described as a Studebaker touring car with several occupants, backed away after the impact and fled eastward. Police investigate, with a potential clue emerging amid nearby witnesses.
In Philadelphia the will of late Dr Gabrielle Harrison grants more than 1 million dollars to establish an apartment hotel offering free residence to widows and deserted mothers. Miss Annette Bartosek of New York City formerly of Lebanon and Joseph Trompeter, a U S Marine stationed at Paris Island, were married by Rev Father Joseph Smarsh at 8 30 this morning. Attendants included Miss Julia Ogureak and Raymond Bender as maid of honor and best man. A wedding breakfast followed at the groom's home and the couple left for a honeymoon in Atlantic City.
Dr and Mrs Bamberger will leave Saturday afternoon for Montreal to attend the annual convention of the American Institute of Semiaopathy held June 23 to 27. They will travel by train up the Hudson River and Lake George and Lake Champlain.

The grand champion Angus steer at the Lancaster fat cattle show sold for 900 dollars. Bred by C. M. Fasnacht of Lancaster County, it was bought by Abogast Bastian and Company of Allentown for 75 cents per pound live weight. The 1290 pound steer plus 14 to 29 head per group averaged 14.25 to 20 per 100 pounds. twelve hundred bidders attended.
Patrick Francis Sullivan, 19, son of Mr and Mrs Pantel Sullivan of No 1 Walnut Street, drowned at Kiwanis Bathing Beach Ebenezer Dam on a hot Wednesday afternoon. He left home about 1 30 pm to cool off and had planned to swim at the Lebanon Bathing Casino with sisters before joining mill colleagues at Ebenezer. He drove to the dam alone, met friends there, and tragedy followed.

Past Commander of Naomi Assembly of A. O. K. of M. C. met Pine Temple Assembly No. 60 at Rexmont with eighty six in attendance. Visiting assemblies from York Lanecaster Mountville Steelton and Middletown attended. After business, entertaining committees presented a program of readings solos and selections by Hawaiian Four and Pine Temple members followed by a social hour at Noggles Fall and refreshments.

Willan Kurtzman, a first-trick watchman at Reading Railroad on Railroad Street Myerstown, was fatally struck by a train at 11:80 this morning after failing to see the approaching locomotive. He was known as a “first-trick” watchman due to his regular shifts and routines.
Three people were injured when a Chevrolet touring car owned by Aaron Schwartz left the road and crashed into a telegraph pole near the Cornwall PIRSA at Midway Monday night shortly after 8 30 oclock. Vivian Battagalin a child from Broad Street was admitted to One Good Samaritan hospital with a severe head laceration and other bruises. Aaron Schwartz suffered forehead and arm lacerations and was treated and discharged. Mrs Schwartz sustained bruises and abrasions but was not hospitalized. Patrolman W G Davies investigated the accident. the steering rod broke before the crash as the vehicle headed toward Lebanon.

Mrs Paul B Young of 348 North Eleventh Street returned home after a stay in Long Island where she gained attention for her mother Mrs John cor hed. On the way back she visited Philadelphia to see daughter Miss Pawline Yeung, a hospital nurse.
Hershey Chapter hosted a joint gathering with Lebanon Valley Chapter at the Hershey Inn on a Wednesday evening. Rev. Paul Rinports passed a gavel to Prof. A M Hinkle, with Dr H H Shenk outlining high citizenship ideals and the group planning a return joint meeting at Chef's on July 17.
A dual celebration Monday evening at 582 Hill Street saw Miss Dorothy Helt wed Frank Pinskey of Reading. The ceremony at 8 o clock was performed by Rev. Leslie, uniting Mr. and Mrs. Helt who wed twenty-two years earlier on the same date. A reception followed with relatives and friends, including numerous city residents and guests from Reading.
