Private Harry E Keller Jr visited grandparents during furlough as Lutheran youth program and church services took place. Locals hosted guests and held a Sunday youth meeting with music, scripture, and a speaking guest. Carnival plans, garden projects, and visits from Delaware and Lebanon residents are noted.
Robert G. North, an engineer for the U S Veterans Administration, arrives in South Lebanon Township to survey the veterans hospital project. Equipment shipments to Lebanon have begun and space has been allocated at the Chamber of Commerce for the survey team.
Pfc Carlton Kingsley son of Mr and Mrs Alfred Kingsley of Maple Street graduates from a flexible gunnery school at Buckingham Army Air Field Fort Myers Florida receives his first stripe and silver gunners wings and is sent to Lincoln Nebraska for further training. Seaman Second Class Donald Kreamer son of Mr and Mrs Wilbur Kreamer of Maple Street returns home for two weeks. Chaplain Shettel reports his wife’s major operation and recovery in Hot Springs Arkansas.

Philadelphia wholesale prices show asparagus dull with New Jersey crates selling 1.00 to 4.00 per dozen bunches. Apples, snap beans and other produce from New Jersey and Pennsylvania list varied per unit and crate prices, including cabbage 1.50 to 1.95 per peck, cauliflower 0.75 to 1.75 per crate, and berries at 2.00 to 3.75 per pint or basket.
